Sectional Dock Caisson -Â Schedule of Bolt & Subsidiary Equipment.
The Sectional Dock Caisson (subsequently codenamed SHARK) was designed to be used in captured ports where the dock gates had been destroyed by the retreating German Army. The caissons were designed to be universal in that their width and depth could be adjusted to suit the dimensions of the dock entrance. This is just one of many novel items of equipment that the Royal Engineers’ Tn5 team under Lt Col W T Everall designed as a contingency measure prior to D Day.
